Amazingly, this book was reviewed by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, a secular engineering institution: http://www2.theiet.org/OnComms/sector/magazine.cfm?issueID=257&articleID=C286F524-EA7E-7D5B-E07C1782C36971BD Alister McGrath, Dawkins' God: http://www.eden.co.uk/shop/dawkins_god_98919.html Other responses to Dawkins: http://www.cis.org.uk/resources/dawkins A DVD we recommend is The God Delusion Debate. Christian theologian and maths reader at Oxford Dr. John Lennox challenges atheist zoologist Professor Richard Dawkins, also from Oxford, in this 2 hour DVD. The BBC comments: "Darwin's Rottweiler is about to get a run for his money." Which is best supported by science: Christianity or atheism? Dr Lennox throws argument after argument until Prof. Dawkins is on the defensive. A treat to hear the faith position put so clearly. In 8 x 15 minutes parts that were broadcast in the States. Dawkins talks about the FACT of evolution, and in his opinion, science demolishes any sensible belief in God. However, not all scientists agree with all of Dawkins' statments. Dr John Lennox (see book right) has recently debated Dawkins (see link to video of the debate from the home page of Was Darwin right) and in his book, God's undertaker, has Science buried God he quotes evidence from many scientists that is contrary to much that Dawkins believes in. See also DVD above. Dawkins recently stated on TV that both the fossils and DNA sequence data were unequivocal evidence for evolution. With respect to the fossil evidence, many leading palaeontologists have made comments similar to below from David Raup. Evolutionist David Raup, Curator of Geology at Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History said:- 'The evidence we find in the geological record is not nearly as compatible with Darwinian natural selection as we would like it to be ....We now have a quarter of a million fossil species but the situation hasn't changed much. The record of evolution is surprisingly jerky and, ironically, we have even fewer examples of evolutionary transition than in Darwin's time ... so Darwin's problem has not been alleviated' (Raup, Field museum of Natural History Bulletin). In the book on the right, Darwins Enigma, the author interviews four leading palaeontologists from around the world who are all in agreement that there is lack of evidence of transitional fossils between all major groups of animals - see also Fossils page of Was Darwin right.
With respect to DNA evidence, geneticist Dr Michael Denton in his book Evolution, a theory in crisis (see left) comments that 'at the molecular level, there is no trace of the evolutionary transition from fish to amphibian to reptile to mammal' - see page 285.
